Version 1.4.1
This combined platform release strengthens everyday SPM navigation, privacy, social discovery, and maintainability through accessible consent controls, global social links, refined responsive menus, and a standalone logo-slider module.
Release Highlights
Clear Privacy Choices
Visitors can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or manage essential and analytics preferences.
Leaner Global Components
Navigation, social links, and the logo slider became more focused, accessible, and maintainable.
SPM Cookie Consent
Essential and Analytics Categories
Essential cookies remain enabled because they support necessary site behavior. Analytics is optional and connects to Google's analytics_storage consent setting, allowing visitors to control whether measurement storage is permitted.
Direct Consent Controls
The interface provides Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, Preferences, and Save and Close actions. Visitors can make a quick decision or review the available categories before saving.
SPM-Branded, Theme-Aware Presentation
Silktide's consent manager received a dedicated SPM treatment using purple, cyan, and gold accents, readable Light and Dark modes, visible focus indicators, responsive button layouts, and reduced-motion handling.
Plain-Language Privacy Information
The prompt explains that analytics is optional and that SPM does not send personalized advertising data to third-party vendors.
Standalone Logo Slider
Extracted From the Around Theme
The logo-strip behavior was separated from the theme's large multipurpose JavaScript bundle into the focused spm-logo-slider.js module. SPM can now use the slider without loading unrelated theme features.
Markup-Driven Swiper Settings
The module reads each component's configuration from .swiper[data-swiper-options], preserving page-specific Swiper behavior while preventing duplicate initialization.
Technical Integration and Testing
Cookie consent order: Silktide base CSS loads first, followed by spm-cookie-consent.css. The deferred Silktide manager then loads before the deferred spm-cookie-consent.js initializer.
Logo slider order: Swiper CSS and JavaScript must be available before spm-logo-slider.js. Syntax, library availability, JSON option parsing, initialization, and duplicate-initialization behavior passed verification.
Production checks: Cookie consent was tested after clearing application data in both Light and Dark themes. Its controls, text, and appearance passed. Footer destinations, hover behavior, keyboard focus, and both themes also passed, and the standalone logo slider was confirmed working.
Known Limitations
Consent preferences are browser-specific
Saved privacy choices apply to the current browser and may be removed when site data is cleared. They do not automatically transfer to another device.
External social platforms control their availability
SPM provides verified destinations, but each social platform controls its own service, login requirements, regional availability, and future URL behavior.
The logo slider requires Swiper
The standalone module is intentionally smaller than the original theme bundle, but it still depends on Swiper's CSS and JavaScript being loaded first and on valid JSON in data-swiper-options.
Hover enhancement is device-dependent
Desktop hover behavior is enabled only for devices that report appropriate hover and pointer capabilities. Keyboard and tap interaction remain the dependable alternatives.
Global Social Connections
Five Verified Follow Destinations
The global footer connects visitors with SPM on Facebook, X, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube. Each destination URL was tested before approval.
Safer External Links
Social destinations open in a new tab with
rel="noopener noreferrer", preventing the new page from receiving unnecessary control over the originating SPM window.Accessible Icon Links
Descriptive accessible labels identify each destination, decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology, keyboard focus remains visible, and reduced-motion preferences are respected.
Shared Footer Integration
The social-follow component fits the existing four-column footer without requiring JavaScript, giving every page the same reliable connection points.
